Bangladesh historic series win against south africa
Historic series − Taskin Ahmed and Tamim Iqbal played as Bangladesh won their third match against South Africa.
Fast bowler Taskin took five out of 35 as South Africa was bowled out for 154 runs, the lowest number against Bangladesh. Visiting captain Tamim then hit 87 unbeaten in 82 balls to give Bangladesh a victory with 23.3 overs, sharing the first-century partnership with Liton Das (48).
Bangladesh won the series by two games to one, securing its place in the World Cup Super League. South Africa is ranked ninth and is in danger of missing out on one of the top eight qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup.
Bangladesh has lost all 19 of their matches against South Africa in their place before winning their first match by 38 runs in the same venue on Friday. South Africa won the second match by seven wickets in Johannesburg but Bangladesh won the series on Wednesday.
South Africa quickly started with Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock scoring 46 in the first wicket in seven overs. Taskin threw very well after out-of-the-boxer Mehidy Hasan made the first contribution by removing De Kock.
Taskin has produced his best game since scoring five of 28 in his first match against India in Mirpur in 2014. He threw at an astonishing speed of three spells and tormented all the beats.
With South Africa defending the low number, Keshav Maharaj slammed Litton Das back with a Kagiso Rabada point in the first over of Bangladesh innings before Das scored. Das and Tamim took full advantage of the release, putting the 127th in the first wicket.
